Description: This combination medication is designed to alleviate coughs caused by the common cold, bronchitis, and other respiratory conditions. It contains two active ingredients: guaifenesin and dextromethorphan. Guaifenesin acts as an expectorant, helping to thin and loosen mucus in the airways, thereby relieving congestion and facilitating easier breathing. Dextromethorphan, on the other hand, functions as a cough suppressant by targeting the cough center in the brain and reducing the urge to cough. How to Use: The recommended dosage for adults is 10 mg to 20 mg of dextromethorphan taken orally every 4 hours, or 30 mg taken orally every 6 to 8 hours. The maximum daily dose for adults should not exceed 120 mg. For children aged 6 to 11 years, the recommended dosage is 5 mg to 10 mg taken orally every 4 hours, or 15 mg taken orally every 6 to 8 hours. The maximum daily dose for children is 60 mg. Precautions: Take note of the following precautions before using this medication: Do not use if you are allergic to dextromethorphan or any of the ingredients in the medication. Avoid taking this medication if you are currently using or have taken monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors within the past two weeks. MAO inhibitors include moclobemide, rasagiline, selegiline, and tranylcypromine. If you have respiratory depression, characterized by a breathing rate below normal, this medication is not suitable for you. Do not administer this medication to children under 6 years old.
